Chaperones please fill out this application. We are accepting volunteers for different aspects of our organization.
Please note: Due to the overwhelming amount of submissions, there may be a delay in the the response time as we schedule upcoming onboarding sessions.
Chaperone Dispatch (virtual): Preferably bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin,. You will be responsible for answering calls, replying to chaperone requests, and matching volunteer chaperones with community members using our Discord server. Flexible volunteer shifts and hours! (8-10 hrs/ week)
Software Engineer (virtual): Use your development skills to help build and launch the official Compassion In Oakland app! You will work alongside a team of volunteer engineers and designers to build out a platform to empower community members to request chaperones in times of need. While we would prefer you have prior experience in building UIs and/or developing with React Native, iOS, Android, or React, this is not an absolute requirement provided you are willing to learn and commit to the project. (3-5 hrs/week commitment)
Volunteer Coordinator: Schedule onboarding sessions, and volunteer shifts. Answer general email questions. (5-10 hrs/ week)
Infographic (virtual): Create simple and clear infographics in multiple languages for distribution. Responsible for researching and fact checking info included. Examples of topics: How to keep safe (targeted for elderly), How to use personal safety devices, etc. (hour commitment depends on project and your workflow est. 5-10hrs)
Data Collection (virtual): Help CIO collect data to help us improve services. (initial set up 5-10 hrs/wk, maintenance varies)
Expansion Manager (virtual): Research and seek out cities that are in need of services Compassion in Oakland provides. Secure connections and leadership team in new cities. Responsible for logistics in expansion process including research and execution training/administrative/operational activities. Implement and ensure CIO principles and policies are executed, provide support and guidance for new Compassion in cities. Responsible for working with legal team to understand legal ramifications for specific cities and how it impacts Compassion in Oakland. (10+ hrs week)
